Makedonski.gov.mk
Makedonski.gov.mk is one of the most difficult, but at the same time most inspiring and perhaps most important projects we have undertaken so far. The entire project ended up as a donation from Blink Marketing and Media DOO Skopje to the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia and all citizens of the country.
The project contains multiple implementation phases, and our task was to design, enable, code, and launch a multi-layered complicated system, with an initial delivery deadline of 10 days.
The entire extended Blink team worked around the clock during the long weekend for May 1st, so we could succeed in launching it on May 5th – Macedonian Language Day.
Project Goal
To digitize the entire Interpretative Dictionary of the Macedonian Language and create a web platform through which any citizen can search the entire database.
Completed Work
On April 26, we received all materials in Word documents from the Institute of Macedonian Language, containing slightly more than 50,000 interpretations of Macedonian words. Over the next 7 days, through a 25-step process, we managed to reconstruct the word map for each word, containing its information. For these needs, we used our unique NLP model of the Macedonian language. These are 24 different properties that each word has, transformed from a simple paragraph into fields in a database.
Parallel to these steps, the design process of the platform ran together with the Government's Public Relations Sector, where we defined the design priorities and the way users would use the system.
Meanwhile, our technical IT staff set up the complete server infrastructure, which we cannot explain in depth for security reasons, however, it consists of a multi-server setup, with triple redundancy of database data and the capability to serve more than half a million users per second.
In the remaining 3 and a half days, we created a web application, translated the proposed design into HTML and CSS, and uploaded all data to the system.
