The challenge of this project was to modernize and migrate the existing SDSM website from one CMS to another and from one server to another in a very short timeframe. While the design received only a cosmetic “facelift,” the real heavy lifting happened behind the scenes.
The goal of the migration was to empower the PR team to work quickly and efficiently, managing and adding content from any device, anywhere.
The key challenge was transferring over 10,000 unique posts, with no automated export option available from the old CMS. To tackle this, we developed a custom script that crawled the old CMS, seamlessly transferring nearly 10,000 pieces of content—complete with images, text, categories, unique identifiers, and videos—in just one weekend.
Another goal of the redesign was to enable multilingual content support and full website translation capabilities.
While the migration may look like a simple design refresh to external users, the PR team reaps the biggest benefits. They now have a predictable, secure, advanced, modern, and—most importantly—user-friendly CMS at their fingertips.
This upgrade also opens the door for rapid redesigns and complete design overhauls of any page, thanks to a custom-built theme created with a visual designer.
